The Forest

Image
Take a walk in the forest and learn something more about yourself. 1. You're standing at the edge of a forest looking in. What do you see, how do you feel, what do you feel about what you see? 2. You walk into the forest and emerge at the other end. Here you see a field and notice a path. How many paths, if any, do you see? 3. You take one of the paths or quite possibly make your own. You notice a rose tree in the distance. There is a single rose, yet it is not like any rose you have ever seen before. It is the most beautiful rose you have ever seen! What do you do? 4. Walking along the path you stumble upon something. You turn around and notice that it's an old rusted key. What do you do? 5. Walking further, you stumble upon an old cup. What do you do? 6. It's noon and the sun is blazing hot. You come upon a crystal lake. It is mirror like and pristine. What do you do? 7. After the lake, you climb upon a hill. You can see a deep green valley, and a beautif

Lying to boss was easy http://www.ndtv.com/news/india/tweets-not-sweet-can-spell-trouble-in-divorce-cases-19229.php Tweets not sweet: Can spell trouble in divorce cases Anu Sharma, 30, suspected that her husband was lying to her every time he cited urgent business tours to stay out of the house. One day she finally got proof in the form of a tweet. The next day, she filed for divorce, using the tweet as evidence. When it comes to fighting a divorce case, tweets are not necessarily sweet. Your status message on social networking websites can even be used as secondary evidence in court cases. Legal experts say tweets and messages on social networking sites like Facebook and Orkut can reveal one's state of mind; therefore they can be taken as secondary evidence in legal matters. This clause comes under the IT Act of 2000, amended in October last year. Pavan Duggal, a Supreme Court lawyer, said: "The IT Act of 2000 was primarily legislation promoting e-commerce and the concept of

Golden TV days

Since the invasion of satellite television, our outlook of television has changed. Previously we had just 1 or 2 channels, where we enjoyed waiting and watching each programmes. But now, with so many channels, i don't think there are any programmes that make the same impressions as certain old ones from DD...which are still close to our heart. Even when there is a re-telecast i would sit and enjoy then again and again. What are the things that bring sweet nostalgic moments of childhood olden days of TV watching. Your fav programs, certain cartoons, national songs ,some ads...come on yaar...lets cherish that old moments! Rukaawat ke liye khed hai thats what we used to see most of the time those days.Urgggg...hhh how irritated we used to get seeing the sorry for interruption board displayed.I still cherish 'Mile Sure mera tumhara', bhaje sarjam har taraf se gunj ban kar desh Raag. Amongs animation i remember: Ek Anek ....ek chidiya anek chiya Ek Aan ka ek daana sukh dega mu

Mind Game

Image
Petals Around The Rose Petals Around the Rose is a lateral thinking mind game traditionally played with five dice. It is played by computer program or with physical dice that are rolled by a Potentate of the Rose, a person who knows the secret of the game. For each roll of all dice, there is a single numerical solution. The players then attempt to arrive at this solution. If they do not, the Potentate of the Rose will tell it to them, and it is their task to figure out the solution for the next roll. There are three, and only three, rules: 1. The name of the game is "Petals Around the Rose", and the name is significant. 2. The answer is always zero or an even number. 3. Anyone who knows the game may give the answer to any roll, but they must not disclose the reasoning. When a person discovers how the answer is computed, they become a Potentate of the Rose themselves. Much akin to magic tricks, an integral part of the puzzle is that those who have solved it are urged to keep

Family

One of the best mail i ever received F A M I L Y I ran into a stranger as he passed by, "Oh excuse me please" was my reply. He said, "Please excuse me too; I wasn't watching for you." We were very polite, this stranger and I. We went on our way and we said goodbye. But at home a different story is told, How we treat our loved ones, young and old. Later that day, cooking the evening meal, My son stood beside me very still. When I turned, I nearly knocked him down. "Move out of the way," I said with a frown. He walked away, his little heart broken. I didn't realize how harshly I'd spoken. While I lay awake in bed, God's still small voice came to me and said, "While dealing with a stranger ,common courtesy you use, but the family you love, you seem to abuse. Go and look on the kitchen floor, You'll find some flowers there by the door. Those are the flowers he b

The Power of words over water

Image
The Power Of Words Over Water Can water be affected by our words? Dr. Masaru Emoto, a Japanese scientist, believes so. And he has proof. Dr. Emoto took water droplets, exposed them to various words, music, and environments, and froze them for three hours. He then examined the crystal formations under a dark field microscope. And he took photographs. The results were totally mind-blowing. Heres a photo of ordinary water without any prayer spoken over it. The molecular structure is in disarray. The photo below is water after the prayer was said. Its simply breathtaking. (I now have a great respect for praying before meals! More on this later.) Dr. Emoto also exposed water to Heavy Metal music. Heres how it looks like. Looks sad if you ask me. Heres water exposed to classical music and folk dance music.. Looks much better, right? Next, Dr. Emoto stuck a piece of paper with these words: You make me si

Outsourcing Post

An Interesting article which appeared in the IANS about postal outsourcing and the Kanjoos britons is worth reading. Postal outsourcing: Britons sending Christmas cards via India By IANS Monday December 24, 02:04 PM London, Dec 24 (IANS) Don't be surprised if you see British citizens queuing up in post offices in India to post Christmas cards to friends and family in Britain. Many Britons have found that the Indian postal system is cheaper and more reliable than Royal Mail. There have been several instances when Britons travelling to India for other purposes at this time of the year have used their trips to carry their Christmas cards along and post them in India instead of in Britain. Amidst a welter of complaints about Royal Mail losing millions of Christmas cards and parcels, several Britons have discovered that the doughty Indian postal system - set up during the colonial era - is a more reliable and cheaper alternative. In fact, it may not be too long before entre

Two Faces of a coin

Recently, read in the papers that Kolkata is facing a mysterious shortage of coins especially of small denominations like 25 paise, 50 paise, Re 1 and Rs 2, the ferrous stainless steel ones. It’s said that its smuggled into Bangladesh, where they are made into razors and other ornaments. It’s the small shopkeepers who suffered the most and there was a long queue before the RBI for collecting the coins, and the beggars were the better alternatives for coin other than the bank. Officials investigating the disappearance of coins, claim that a one-rupee coin can be melted down to make three or four razor blades, worth two rupees each. The coins are disappearing fast, so fast that RBI had to pump in 900 million pieces of fresh coins only in May to restore the demand-supply imbalance. While in Kolkata, many are suffering due to the shortage of coins, in other part of India even the beggars, bus conductors and shopkeepers don’t even value the 25 paise, 50 paise. When given to them, either we

Beautiful Borobudur

Image
On the island of Java stands a mountain of a thousand statues...panels at Borobudur surrounded by volcanoes, shrouded in mystery. It conveys the visitor to the heart of the life of Buddha with strong iconographical details. Located at 42 kms west of Yogyakarta, on the island of Java in Indonesia, Borobudur - one of the most magnificent Buddhist shrines in the world - was built at the end of the 9th century by the Hindu kings of the Sailendra dynasty. Although the architect and the artisans were of Indian origin, most of the craftsmen and carvers were Javanese, so Borobudur shows both Indian and Javanese influence. Its estimated to have took 75 Years to build and was completed in 825 A.D. The seat of the Government moved to the Eastern part of Java with royal patronage gone, the shrine could not be maintained and was finally abandoned. The jungle began to creep up around it. Within a few years it was fully covered with creepers, thick vegetation. The local people stayed away from it to

Wesak

Image
Its the buddhist festival celebrated on buddha poornami. The day is a day thrice blessed. The world knows it as Buddha Purnima. Its significance lies in the fact that it was on this day that Prince Siddharth was born, got enlightenment and left his physical state at the age of 80. Vesak or wesak is the most holy time in the Buddhist calendar.Vaishākha is the name of the second month of the lunar Hindu calendar. Wesak is a major festival in many Buddhist countries. It happens on the day of the full moon in May. Vesak is also known as Visakah Puja, Buddha Purnima or Buddha Jayanti in India, Bangladesh and Nepal, Visakha Bucha in Thailand, Phat Dan in Vietnam, Waisak in Indonesia, Vesak (Wesak) in Sri Lanka and Malaysia, and Saga Dawa in Tibet. The equivalent festival in Laos is called Vixakha Bouxa and in Myanmar is called Ka-sone-la-pyae meaning Fullmoon Day of Kasone which is also the second month of the Myanmar Calender. On this day, devotees may bring simple offerings of flowers, c

Girl with X-ray eyes

Image
A teenage girl from Saransk, Russia, who claims to have X-ray-like vision, which lets her see inside of human bodies, to make diagnoses that often are more accurate than those of doctors. First widely hailed in Russia as "the girl with X-ray eyes," 17-year-old Natasha Demkina has a growing following of patients, doctors, journalists, and others who are convinced her powers are real. In March 2004, the producer of a Discovery Channel documentary on Natasha asked the Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal (CSICOP) and the affiliated Commission for Scientific Medicine and Mental Health (CSMMH) to scientifically test the young woman's claims. In response, CSICOP research fellows Ray Hyman, Ph.D. and Richard Wiseman, Ph.D., and I designed a preliminary test for judging whether her abilities warranted further, study. After Natasha, her mother, her agent, and the producer agreed to the test rules, we all flew to New York for filming the test on t

Life , let it shine

This was a forward which i received, but i just like it for the simplicity with which it was told.About our desires and attachment in life. There was a rich King who had 4 wives. He loved the 4th wife the most and adorned her with rich robes and treated her to the finest of delicacies. He gave her nothing but the best. He also loved the 3rd wife very much and was always showing her off to neighboring kingdoms. However, he feared that one day she would leave him for another. He also loved his 2nd wife. She was his confidante and was always kind, considerate and patient with him. Whenever the King faced a problem, he could confide in her to help him get through the difficult times. The King's 1st wife was a very loyal partner and had made great contributions in maintaining his wealth and kingdom. However, he did not love the first wife and although she loved him deeply, he hardly took notice of her. One day, the King fell ill and he knew his time was short. He thought of his luxurio

Movie Magic

There are lots of movies, which had touched your heart feelings, and simply made you cry or made you laugh out of control or simply make you think. Final Farewell

Image
Dream life as if you’ll live forever; But, live life as if you’ll die today Some people come into our lives and quickly go, some people move our souls to dance, They awaken us to new understanding with the passing whisper of their wisdom, Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon; they stay in our lives for a while, Leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never ever the same. How truly said…never knew the bye I was saying to my uncle and cousin would be the final one………two people, so close to my heart ….whom I adored very much. After spending 4 memorable years at my hometown , I was traveling back with my family to Delhi…a reunion…. in search of better opportunities. Just 10 min. left for the train to depart, my uncle holding my hands for a long time just looked at me …..His eyes looked quite sad…why he gave that look, I still don’t know. Did he know or feel what was about to come????? Don’t know, but still that look really quizzes me, even today. My cousin came jus

Simple Warli Art

Image
I had always been fascinated by one painting which I had on my bedspread. It depicted the daily life of the rural people, almost similar to the Forest life. It looks somewhat similar to the cave paintings of early man which I had seen in certain text books. But this piece of art was very common in india on bed cover, cushion covers and even many book covers, many had this as it was simple and fascinating one. Then I found out, such paintings were called Warli paintings which basically used rice flour as a medium to make simple lines and geometric figures which looked amazing but still had simplicity in it. The myth t ha t if we u se complex colors and shape then only a piece of work would look great is proved wrong by these simple but beautiful paintings, which reflects the daily life and still look alive with all the forest activities. It is done through simple folk s ymbols drawn with bold, easy strokes with most minimal colors basically white since none is needed to draw a
